A note about the on-line letter of recommendation system
After application processing, the Office of Admissions sends an acknowledgement letter with the UIN and instructions on activating their NetID within 24 hours. With this NetID, the applicant can access AIS (Applicant Information System). Near the middle of the page is a link that states to “Click here to submit/manage letters of recommendation.” The applicant will be directed to a page on which they can enter the information and email address of each potential recommender. After submitting the recommender’s information, the applicant must click “Send Email” for AIS to send an electronic notification to the recommender with a link to access the recommendation form. Applicants can send reminder emails (one per hour) if the recommender has not yet viewed the form. If an applicant wants to make another entry for any particular recommender, they will have to enter a different email address for the recommender.
