Transfer Credit

Equivalency for any courses taken at another university is established through discussion with the student, the student's advisory committee, the MSEN Department Graduate Advisor, and the MSEN chair, and the MSEN curriculum committee, if necesssary. A student may petition to use alternate classes for required courses. If otherwise acceptable to the committee, certain courses may be used toward meeting credit hour requirements for a degree under the following limitations: for a master of science degree program a student may transfer a maximum of 12 semester hours. For the doctoral program, there is no University limit on the number of hours of transfer credit which may be allowed.

Courses taken in residence at an accredited U.S. institution or approved international institution with a final grade of B or better will be considered for transfer credit if, at the time the courses were completed, the student was in degree-seeking status at Texas A&M University or at the institution at which the courses were taken and if the courses would be accepted for credit toward a similar degree for students in degree-seeking status at the host institution. Extension courses are not acceptable for graduate credit.

Course work without formal grades or with grades other than letter grades (for example, CR, P, S, U, H, etc.) is not accepted for transfer credit. Transfer credit for course work from any college or university must be shown in semester credit hours or equated to semester credit hours. You must have an official transcript sent directly from the university in which the transfer course work was taken to the Texas A&M Office of Admissions and Records. Transfer courses are not included in the calculation of the GPR.

More information can be found on the Transfer Credit Factsheet, Office of Graduate Studies.
